It was a Flagrant 1 foul, intentional, but no intent to hurt the opponent.

It's what used to be an intentional foul. A deliberate attempt to go after the player, not the ball, but with no intent to injure people. The call was correct. A flagrant 2 would be like if Mika punched Karnowski in the face, rather than grab his arm. Think Marsha Henderson vs Jackson Emery.
