We don't know what he's going through personally, his lifestyle
separation from his family, etc. It sounds as though Jimmer has the opportunity to make a lot more money in China while being a huge star. That is a big deal. Jimmer dreamed of a career in basketball. He is now in a position where he can play Jimmer ball, can run a team and make a great living, where he can save up all kinds of money for his family's future which will open up other doors for him. It would be one thing if Jimmer wasn't getting paid well. I don't know what he makes, but I suspect he will do very well if he stays in China. I also suspect that Jimmer will not be happy on any NBA team, where he will languish somewhere in obscurity, making the NBA minimum (assuming he gets a chance at all).

If Jimmer were my son, I'd suggest he go where he feels he can make the most of his very limited window of opportunity to make money for his family while enjoying the doors presently open to him. I'd remind him of how miserable he has been in the NBA and ask if he is willing to go back to that just to get another shot. (I just don't think the NBA wants a Jimmer, quite frankly.) When will Jimmer be in a position to make millions while having the freedom to play to his heart's content and be adored by fans? He is building a huge brand in China, man. I'd suggest he ride the wave and cash in as best he can, saving wisely for his family's future. But, it all depends on what other opportunities are presented, how much Jimmer can earn and put away now, and how happy Jimmer is living in China away from family and friends.
