None of us really knows of course so the truth could be all over the map. But I think it's just as possible that they've already had this conversation amongst the team, come to some realizations, and that they are collectively OK with talking about it publicly.
Also, I didn't interpret it as an indictment of people not being as good as they thought they were so much as saying that they are beginning to realize that individual talent won't get it done at this level and they need to develop into an unselfish team.
