Why would you think this? Idiotic.
Let's find the one player on the team struggling the most and ASSUME it is because he doesn't think he needs to get any better and is satisfied with sucking. Let's ignore the fact that his entire life he has worked hard to be the best, and assume he doesn't feel that way anymore. Now that he has a scholarship he can just make cocky comments to old people and suck and hey, life is good, school is paid for.

I find it much more likely that he is trying to find a way to help the team and failing, and it is killing him inside. And if there is an excuse for his less than stellar behavior it is probably because he is angry and frustrated and trying desperately not to lose all of his confidence in the face of poor performance after poor performance.

He shot the ball 7 times. That is the lowest shot count among the starters. None of them were crazy shots he should not have taken. If he can't occasionally score he has no business being on the court, which is why he took his 7 shots. He had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 turnover. He also had two passes to bigs that should have been assists if they had been correctly handled.

Don't get me wrong, he has regressed and is playing poorly right now. As I said, if he cannot at least be a threat to score, he does us no good, but nothing points to a lack of effort. Saying that makes it easy to demonize a kid, but it is almost surely not true.
