The Articles of Faith still pertain to laws that we might not like and to a magistrate in a country that we were not born in but now choose to live. The argument you make is not as simple and as clear cut as you make it. Also show me any written statement signed by the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 where they say that US immigration law is stupid and invalid therefore we give members permission to ignore articles of faith 12 (being honest) and 13 (obeying, honoring and sustaining the law of the land we choose to live in)
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul [—] "[W]e believe all things[,] we hope all things," we have endured many things[,] and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praise worthy [praiseworthy,] we seek after these things.
Also where in the Church Handbook concerning temple recommends does it say it is ok to lie about your citizenship if it profits you and keeps you from legal consequences for your actions and your choices.
