I'm betting BYU accepts many of the lower SES kids who do apply - the problem is that there just aren't that many of them from our particular applicant pool, so increasing tuition for the majority who are fairly well off would hurt the lower income kids who do apply and come here. I guess they could offer different financial aid packages based on fafsa though.
