Perception is often overblown. But all you have to do is ask Chrysler and
they'd tell you the negative effects are very real and very damaging. A lot of $$ is being spent in that company to combat the negative perception of reliability (most likely earned) issues 20 years ago.

Same could be said with GM. They have models outperforming Toyota in reliability (short and long term), yet the perception that they build "junk" is tough to overcome. I speak in car-talk; because it's what I know best, the analogy can be applied to the board.


You could mitigate a lot of it with some sort of rotation schedule.
