It was a rough era. For weeks I'd heard fans in the crowd belittling Walsh. There seemed to be a "put in Clements" following any drive that didn't end in a BYU td. It was obnoxious.
I yelled at fans to shut up. I was in my mid 20s so I was young and obnoxious. Hearing the constant complaining about a guy who performed so well annoyed me.
During that Fresno State game, the older guy who sat behind me was so annoyed with my cheering for Walsh after both Clements and Young sucked that he put his hands on me and tried to start a fight.
Fortunately, his wife settled him down and he left. After sitting behind me for years, I never saw him again. Good riddance.
