He's one of the best defenders in the league, but does not demand the ball on offense, which would allow Hayward to be the undisputed Top Dog when the Jazz have the ball. Gobert doesn't have a big ego, knows his limitations (and is working to get better), and overall seems content to play within the system. He has potential to be one of the best players in the league, yet his game and skillset would not detract from Hayward's in any way.
Contrast that to playing in Boston with Isaiah Thomas, an extremely ball-dominant point guard, who would make sure Hayward stays as #2 man (at best) on the Celtics, no matter what Brad Stevens says. I know there is talk that IT might be traded, but that is by no means a sure thing.
