He has been a defensive coach most of his career, became the head coach at Wyoming after BYU.
He is not LDS, and so he really wouldn't be looked at as a possible successor when Rose retires, but he is a personality that will give the coaching staff something different than what they have had, and he was pretty effective in that role with Cleveland.
I think if he can reprise that type of role with Rose, it should improve the team, and particularly the defensive effort and execution.
As a fan, I would be pretty happy about him joining the Rose staff, I have felt that Rose needed someone cut from that type of cloth for a while on his staff.
