Imagine two guys
Guy #1, in a casual situation when everything is going fine, says to his boss, “My job is not the most important thing in my life; being a husband and father is way more important.”
Boss agrees.
Guy #2, in response to a sharp reprimand for a notable public failure that harms the company, says to his boss, “My job is not the most important thing in my life; being a husband and father is way more important. Therefore, you really shouldn’t criticize me for my performance here at work.”
Boss is not happy.
