We live fairly close to Temple Square, and we frequently head down there on nice days (like Saturday). There was a group of high schoolers all dressed up taking photos on Temple Square (for prom, I assume). Most of them were Polynesians. The one guy not dressed-up with the group looked very familiar, and I realized pretty quickly it was Tolutau.
I went up and said hi, and told him I was a big BYU fan. He was very gracious and kind, and said it was good to meet a fan up here in Salt Lake. When I told him I was a fan, the whole group of Polynesian kids and their dates kind of gathered around and appeared to get excited at the mention of BYU, and many of them started flashing the Kalani "Y" hand sign. Ula's brother, who was on a date and goes to West High (very close to Temple Square), shook my hand and said he was Ula's brother. I asked him if he was headed to BYU too, and both he and Ula immediately and simultaneously said "Absolutely."
I wished Ula luck for the upcoming season, and told him it was great to see some BYU love in Ute country. His words, and I quote: "They will get what is coming to them on September 9th."
I don't think we need to worry about our boys getting up for that game. They already know the date.
The other thing I was amazed by was how well Ula carries all his weight. Frankly, he looked small to me (I am 6'5"). I think he will be capable of great things, and I am glad he is a Cougar.
