They had an outdoor pool at helaman until 2000 something
There is some book called "the history of byu housing" that tells some stories.

Helaman Hall didn't have a pool. DT did. Some boys in one hall (May?) decided to "make their own pool" by sealing around the doors in the bathroom or something and filling it with water. The walls gave out and obviously there were problems. (I'm retelling this from memories of reading it in that book 20 years ago... The details of boys filling some structure with water that gave way and caused a lot of damage is what stands out. I can't remember the specifics)

Shortly after that, helaman got a pool too.

The helaman pool was only open for the first couple of weeks of the school year and school was out in April before it was opened again. My room in May hall had a direct view of the pool.

... The bigger travesty to me is taking out all of the tennis courts by helaman and replacing it with the Miller field. Those tennis courts were always busy and used by students all the time. They always had both those courts and the indoor ones or the ones by brick oven area, but they got rid of those ones without adding any more in. Lame.
