My son plays 6A football in Texas and is at BYU's camp right now.He just shakes
his head about some of the recruits who BYU has offered. It's not that some of them are not good, it's just that compared to who he plays against week after week in Texas he thinks there are a ton of guys out there who are better than who we've offered who aren't getting any attention.

I think it's probably easier to stand out against the talent kids play against in Utah and Idaho and such and for it to look like they're a lot better than they are, relatively speaking.

I don't think this is anything new and we know that there is some talent which will always be hard to get at BYU due to the environment.

BYW, my son had a good camp and got some pretty good notice from the coaches. He's a DB and they specifically matched him up against BYU WR recruits after a couple of days.

He's a little behind the curve since he only became 6'2" 190 (real) this year, which will be his senior year. He played at 158 last year. He's received D2 attention so far and hopeful that he can have a great year this year and up that. He's got good speed, vertical etc. His coaches told me last week at the 7 on 7 deal we were in that they believe he will play at the next level if he wants to.

BTW, he plays for Permian High School--Friday Night Lights fame--the head coach believes they may have the best defense in school history, which would really be saying something if true.
