According to the definition of the universe we would never be able to see beyond the supposed "edge" of the universe. The universe is all of space and time and so a probe from this universe cannot probe what is outside this universe because the very fact that this area can be probed means that it is a part of this universe.

I know, I know, it sounds stupid and it is hard to believe but it's true.
