a modified type offense to fit the personnel that were present last year. The line was not a pro set type line. It was a go fast go hard o line. That fact necessitated a modification by Ty. He modified it and it was fairly successful. It was better than I expected. This year has seen improvement in the size and strength of the o line, bringing it closer to the mold of a pro set type o line. This is a good development. I expect the running game to be good. The Wisconsin transfer is a beast. BYU may not be able to run smash mouth with everyone on the schedule this year, but they will give most teams all they want in the rushing arena.
I expect the passing game to be a solid, ball control type offense. Not a ton of deep balls will be thrown. Short passes will set up deep balls that will be tossed 4-5 times per game. If the receivers can get open deep, on a regular basis, more balls will be launched. If not, ball control will be the main focus. If BYU offense is on the field, the opponent can't score.
As a result of the ball control type offense, I expect lower scoring games. I think 28-15, 30-21, will be the types of scores we will consistently see at the end of games unless BYU is totally superior to the opponent. If BYU averages better than this, I will be pleasantly surprised.
I think 10 wins is not out of the question this year and a top 25 finish is definitely within reach. GO COUGS!
