I want to go on a weekend camping trip up in the mountains, and bring some bikes and kayaks. What is the system you imagine that would allow me to easily take this trip without owning my own vehicle and without paying a massive amount for a rental? Even imagining that we can create a system of short term "rentals" in urban to suburban areas, which I'd grant is eventually possible, how does such a system work in this situation? How do I mount the kayaks and bikes on the car I don't own? How do I get the car to drive me to the camping location up in the spot where no cell service is available on the last 2 miles on a dirt road? How much do I have to pay for this full weekend rental? Taking this trip is pretty simple right now, but I can't imagine it working easily in a fully automated car world.
