Just don't forget that the military washes out guys who don't have the grit

to get through the training for the more elite units.

I think it can also be argued that the military can enhance/fine-tune people who already have grit/toughness, but I know there's a lot of guys who can't hack it.... it's not like the military can just take anybody and stamp out awesomeness at will, it doesn't work that way.
