This is just another example of our ridiculous overreacting media. He answered
A specific question about his opinion in a field that he knows well. He wasn't just spouting off about women being inferior, but he was pressed by the reporter on his opinion. People are free to disagree with his opinion, but it wasn't like he was telling Serena to get back into the kitchen.

BTW, this isn't a "fake news" complaint about the media, but the apparent need to stir up controversy to have something to talk about. Kind of like the Starbucks cup and those kind of faux outrage stories
