I know BYU was on defense at the time the coach is loosely holding the card. I didn't say he was holding up the card to make a play on defense. My thought was simple: if an opponent got our signs (i.e.-when we're holding up a picture of Hulk Hogan, we're going to run a fly sweep) and was able to figure out our sideline communications throughout a game, at some point, that might give our opponent an advantage. I'm not calling the coaches dolts. I didn't say we were on offense. I was simply saying it can't hurt to guard our play calls, signage, and sideline communication throughout a game.
