POTD; way to be the type of person who actually does something when prompted
Over the last two years, a family member of mine has become a raging alcoholic. A couple of us have confronted him and taken him to detox/rehab but he keeps getting right back into it. His kids have been in serious risk/danger because of him with several way-too-close-calls.

What sucks is being "villianized" by other family members who think we should do nothing since he's "family" and they find unbelievable ways to justify thinking that his kids are not in danger because of his condition. We've had to call the police on him and even child protective services which other family members have condemned us for. But in the end, I don't care. I'd rather do something about it, and have them hate us, then do nothing and have a tragedy happen.
