I completely disagree that the show has gone way downhill. S6 E9-10 were 2 of
The best episodes of television ever. Certainly the best GoT episodes since Hardhome (which incidentally had the same director).

Obviously the writing will change a bit without George's books BUT this is act III. It's time for blood and fire.

I didn't think S7 E2 was as good as the first BUT it was an excellent reminder that this show isn't as predicable as some assert and that the bad guys are still around. The battle scene felt like Blackwater in that both sides were crappy people and despite Dorne working for Dany, I was watching just thinking if everyone on both sides dies (except maybe Theon) that would he justice. Euron is no worse than Ellaria.

Seeing Jon and Dany together and how Sansa deals with Littlefinger and Bran and Arya's return leaves plenty of good dialogue and not-battle scenes left.

Let's not forget that above all, if there is one thing the showrunners are good at it - it's finishing strong.

This isn't all just a response to you shimmy, but some of the other criticisms on the thread. I agree with you that the Missandei valyrian scene was stupid but so is grey worms development. I wish he had died in that hallway and not Ser Barristan.
