When the coaches really decided that Riley was going to be the starter (after
the USU game) he became the backup. And the coaches then treated him as the backup. Limited reps, coaches not instructing him on every detail of the game plan etc. I remember he once complained after he left that several weeks sometimes passed without Doman talking to him. Which is the typical life of a backup QB. I always got the impression he was really offended by all of that, and instead of working to get better because of it. He went of and pouted about it.

But, while he was in season, he kept all that crap to himself and wasn't really a locker room problem. He deserves a lot of credit for his behavior during the season. It could have been really bad.
