I hate it, too. It's unsustainable, as the Boston Celtics are discovering.

They have like 20 jersey numbers retired, and it makes it really frustrating for new players who join their team because the only numbers available are awkward numbers that nobody likes. Eventually, after so many decades of great players, you start running out.

Bronco changed that policy. Nobody has worn 9, 14, etc. once they were retired.
