Our feeling about the "fairness" or "morality" of any situation is connected to our greater sense of personal security, and then the freedom to make decisions about what we want to do in life. The embarassment from something like this affects our esteem. Futrther, it has an impact on his life and future career and he could feel deprived of the ability to achieve his long-term goals, often referred to as self actualization. 

In a short, they are negatively pushing every button that makes up his core needs as a human being.

The only thing Francis might be feeling is a sense of love from Kalani and his local Church leaders.
