It was pretty cool to grow up in the 80s in Utah too. I shared your

experience of the NC, the Lakers (I had been a Lakers fan because their games were broadcast in Utah before the Jazz came and I stuck with them as my "1A" team to Utah's "1" after the Jazz moved to Utah), the Gibson world series (even though not a Dodgers fan, my freshman roommate was big on the A's bandwagon and I was a big enough doof as a freshman to root for the Dodgers just to bug him - if you're reading this, "Hi, Mark"), and the LA Olympics in '84. The LA Olympics was about the coolest thing ever.

I was a kid in socal in the 80s. I had no clue about byu (my parent's fault) and it was decidedly uncool to be Mormon
