I just don't understand why we don't open the wallet more. We've got the money.

According to Dept of Ed figures, BYU is running surpluses of at least $5 for the past several years.

To the extent people are worried about the optics of paying large salaries, we are paying market rates, and that's consistent with being honest in your dealings.
