head football coach's pay was doubled (according to rumors), football practice facility upgrades, and tons of other examples of BYU spending lots of money the last few years. I'd say we're funding athletics right in line with a lower end P5, probably better. I don't know if we'll ever see the crazy extras for student athletes like Oregon has, just because of the connection to the church and the perception it could create. That's just my opinion though, but everywhere else, BYU seems to be spending and competing like average P5s.
