I don't care if we are Indy or in a G5. I'll still support the program.
But I don't get some of these arguments against going to a G5 conference.

A NY6 bowl is substantially better than the Las Vegas Bowl even if it doesn't have the same meaning as a playoff. This doesn't need to be debated does it? There is no question that it is easier for BYU to make a NY6 Bowl as a G5 team than as an Indy.

Not sure why recruiting would dip because it certainly hasn't improved since going Independent. Also consider who we recruit, mostly 2 to 3 star mission bound athletes. Those guys receive modest interest at best from power 5 programs. On the flip side, could winning more games possibly help recruiting? Is it a coincidence that 4 of our best recruiting classes in the last 15 years came after we finished nationally ranked in the AP?

Speaking of winning. Could winning conference championships, finishing nationally ranked, and perhaps playing in a NY6 bowl motivate boosters to write checks? I think so. Some of the hangups for being in a G5 conference do not exist anymore (the MTN). I'm not sure how big of difference the tv money is between what we get and an AAC or MWC team gets, but I'm guessing it isn't huge.

I love the access I have to the program as an independent. I love the challenge of playing top teams. But I also love 11-2 alot more than I like 8-5. The way we recruit, coach and schedule 11-2 seems like a mile away. If we stay independent we need to do alot better.
