Depending on the study, girls soccer players suffer concussions at either similar or greater rates than foorball players do. Additionally, and somewhat surprisingly, those concussions also tend to be more severe. If you would keep your boys out of football for concussion reasons, than you'd better keep your girls out of soccer.
Other sports, including basketball and mens soccer are not far behind with concussion rates. Mens Soccer concussion rates are only 30% below football. Womens basketball is only 45% lower. Mens basketball is 60% lower. If declining to play football because of concussion risks, you had better not play (or let your kids play) any sports because the concussion rates are not that far apart.
