Thank you to everyone; this has been a really hard situation for my friend and her family. She has contacted all the regular avenues that she can think of. This is what she sent me in a text just now. Her dad is now in a hospital in Dubrovnik, and took a turn for the worse today. Her brother is there, but does not speak the language and the hospital won't let him stay there past 9 pm. Tonight after he (the brother) had to leave, the doctors also left and so her dad was not able to get up to go to the bathroom. This is what she said they need: Help (call or whatever) for her brother in communicating, and navigating the medical things there, especially in regards to planning an eventual transportation home. His travel insurance will only follow suggestions from the doctors there. They are looking for help negotiating a medical transport or medical escort or first class travel (with medical consideration or something) because he can't sit up, medically, he has to lie down. They would like to be able to give him a blessing, which has not happened yet. They need a way to find a cheaper place to stay, for her mom and brother, since they can't stay at the hospital with her dad and need to be close.
This has been scary and stressful for her, as you can imagine, and she is emotionally at the point where it is hard to process anything or even think calmly.
