And for those of you who keep yelling for JC guys, what is it you think makes them worth it in this system over a HS kid? JC's are set up to exploit athleticism and get kids recruited. They're going to be just as behind as anyone else, except we don't get them as long. So if it takes them a while to get used to it, what's the point? Might as well get a kid for 4 years instead and commit to him. Teach him and let him work up to it. It's a big risk with this system to keep getting JC guys. Maybe except RB but RBs can translate to the college game out of HS just as well. And either way, you're going to have to teach them to block and pick up the nuances of it all.
After watching less athletic BYU teams have more success, it's really strange to say they couldn't accomplish anything if we changed it up a little. Look at what has happened so far? When has BYU looked the most comfortable this year? When we got out from under center and changed the pace. Crazy to think we can't find better ways to exploit what we have and at least be half competent. It's total nonsense that we don't have the guys to look a bit better if we didn't try to force a system on them.
