I'd imagine part of this consideration is the development of LDS institute programs and LDS student populations at schools with "big time programs" so an active LDS football player probably views the population of possibilities a lot more openly than 20 or 30 years ago due to there being a subset of the campus population that aligns with them from a values and culture perspective, whereas that may not have existed in a previous generation.
Getting back to recruiting all of these players that BYU has seemingly missed on, what's the problem at this stage (aside from winning consistency) and what's the solution?
