It's got an obvious downside, but I think it maximizes our upside.
The schools that run it well, are very successful with it, but they are committed and have recruited to fit the system. That could certainly be us, but we can't pull the plug after two seasons.

The biggest concern for me is that since the spread is a more simplified offense, that's what HS QBs are going to know how to run, especially with all the supplemental camps and training that they're doing. The QB in our offense has to re-train from being a first-read, get it out fast, trigger man. That will require a lot more reps and study than anyone in our pipeline currently has. Maybe some of the younger guys will get there. And I hope Tanner will too.

Second biggest concern is the need for a consistent running game. I don't know why we seem to only have a decent rushing attack half the time, but that has been our experience over 20-30 years (somewhat masked recently by Taysom/Jamaal, historic leaders at their positions).

Pro-style needs -- at least -- an above average QB with an above average running game. Then it can play to it's strengths of fakes, options and audibles. Right now we're 0-2 on those.
