$12-14k at most when they bought it (used with low miles). They had it for a year and the insurance offered $8k. They couldn't find one for 8k so they asked for 10k. The insurance company offer 8.5k and then refused to pay medical bills because they were "excessive". They were only 2k of medical.

My in-laws lawyered up and got 10.5k for the car and all the medical paid and lawyer fees paid. It took 2 years after the accident to settle. It was insane. The lawyer fees had to have been over 10k. They spent 4 hours each in depositions. The defendant attorney asked them the craziest things. Made my in-laws feel so dumb and tried to trick them in the depo. They hated the process but glad they didn't get hosed.
