It's going to take more than "a disciplinarian" on the staff somewhere. It has to be program-wide, all day, every day.
It has to be pounded into the very culture and fabric of the team. It has to be something newcomers are freaked out by as they fight to raise their effort and discipline levels. I hope Kalani can figure out how to accomplish this. His instinct is to "love" his players, but of course Bronco loved his players, too. Right now, it SEEMS as if the players are taking advantage of Kalani's player-friendly instincts, and the results are ugly.

Having said that, it's so difficult for we fans to know what's really going on and how to fix it. We really don't know. Most fans are fixated on the offense, and many of those fans are demanding Ty's head. But there's clearly something bigger going on. Maybe it really does have mostly to do with injuries. Maybe it's a bunch of rare events that have combined to produce these results. It's not going to be one single thing. I doubt very much that firing the OC is somehow going to fire up the whole team and get the whole team playing with fanatical effort and high levels of discipline. Hopefully, Kalani, Tom, and whoever else is able to accurately assess the real problems so that they can be fixed permanently. If that includes a new OC, or whatever, so be it. But it won't be enough. Something seems broken all up and down the roster, and whatever that something is, that's what really needs fixing above all else.
