If the goal is truly to create something on par with Game of Thrones (as it sounds like is Bevos' goal), then I hope it is as successful both in creating a compelling storyline, and in delivering cinematic worthy visual effects.

I feel like HBO's Band of Brothers, and Fox's 24 (and probably others) started something when they came out. The cinematic television show. It has grown and grown to the point that a lot of the quality TV shows can be indistinguishable from all but the biggest VFX blockbusters.

A story from Middle Earth will demand a lot of resources, and it looks like they'll get them. If they have strong art direction and capture an authentic look, they will have a huge fan in me.
