do it quite a lot. The difference is when some make it personal and not just about the disagreement of ideas. Or when mocking and demeaning becomes a game. I'm also thinking of those who are so over the top critical of those with differing political views to the point that they wield shared religion & their personal interpretaion of such like a weapon to claim justification. It's possible to debate without being insulting and it's possible to be a liberal while still being Mormon. Shocking stuff, I realize. I put the linked article in the religion category b/c it really was about religion. I also thought it applied to the current CB topic in that I'd hope our beliefs and standards could be something we emmulate in all places and in all things. Clearly I was giving too much credit. I appologize.
Here's a quote a particularly like:
"I believe that radiant Mormonism has as its mission the formation of trust wherever Mormons are. We have to show that we only desire the best for the people around us, and we have to demonstrate our competence. We don’t engage in this work in our church meetings. We develop trust in the course of our ordinary lives, in our professions, in our neighborhoods, in our organizations, in our writing. We do it in places where we advance good causes and demonstrate our skill. We do it when we show our integrity, our good hearts, our capacity. That is how we ready ourselves for the disruptions of the last days."
