Are you unaware that MWC teams have played in several New Years Day bowl games? And they have done very well at that. Unfortunately, BYU is not one of them, not in the MWC days and not even close as an Independent.

You are also ignoring the fact that last year, 2016, BYU went 8-4 as an Independent team and went to the lowly Poinsettia Bowl where they played, wait for it, WYOMING of the MWC! We were lucky to beat them.

The MWC sent SEVEN teams to bowl games in 2016 and will likely send six or seven this year while BYU, suffering in Independence, goes to no bowl game at all. Yes indeed, Independence is a great thing for BYU football. Look where we are now all you pathetic MWC teams with your bowl games and New Years Day bowl Championships.

And then there is the extra game for the MWC Championship. That extra game is a huge bonus for MWC teams, one BYU would kill for this year.

Instead BYU's season and practices will end abruptly this Saturday in Hawaii playing a MWC loser. Independence has really treated BYU well this year, don't you agree?

Can't we just imagine how the poor MWC teams envy BYU with our miserable front-loaded Independent schedule? Our remote access to a New Years Day bowl game? Our never playing a conference championship game? BYU never winning a conference championship, or like this year pretty much not winning anything? Yes, they all must be just SOOOO jealous!

Well, maybe our football program rakes in a few more bucks. In the process of getting whipped by teams out of our league. Take a look at next year's schedule and get ready for more of the same. It's likely going to be another disaster on a par with this year. Thanks a lot Independence. It's just SOOOO much fun.

I went to every Vegas Bowl game BYU played in, along with MANY thousands of happy BYU fans. We won some great games there. Thousands of BYU fans would kill to be playing in the Vegas Bowl again this year. Obviously, you sadly are not one of them. We apparently lost you somewhere along the way. You're just dead wrong, the MWC has a much better "Bowl perspective" than does BYU's brand of Independence.

Don't get your hopes up for that "Special Season" either. BYU not being in a conference hurts recruiting and scheduling and makes it very, very difficult to go undefeated. One of the main reasons Bronco cited for leaving BYU was Independence. Bronco and Tom Holmoe both said that Independence is unsustainable and they are right. It's a dead end street.

Prior to this season Holmoe waffled on his opinion and said that Independence is sustainable. I'll bet he's regretting having said that after this disaster of a season. Really, he ought to be fired for not really knowing whether Independence is sustainable or not, if no other reason.

Sadly, BYU's uphill battle for relevance is probably unwinnable as an Independent in football. Just settle in and live with the crappy seasons, one after the other, to follow. It's tough but a series of poor decisions and bad breaks have stuck us in a rut we can't fight our way out of.
