You mention Jamaal and Taysom as if they were the cure for everything. Last year's record tied the previous year for the best record in any years Taysom or Jamaal played. Both were exciting players but it's not like we were continually close to double digit wins with them on the field. Their talent covered many other weaknesses that quickly became apparent after they left.

I suspect that the lack of talent in the pipeline was a factor in the timing of when Bronco left. His recruiting weaknesses combined with no P5 prospects had already started taking a toll.

Sitake has the potential to gain ground in the recruiting area, whereas Bronco had essentially maxed out his potential unless BYU got a P5 invite. This year those several years of down recruiting were exposed without Jamaal and Taysom. That can't be fixed in one season. I am anxious to see what happens when this staff's recruits are on the field.

Given the talent level that we've been getting since 2010/11, it was only a matter of time before the wheels fell off the bandwagon.

This staff needs to learn from this debacle or face the music. Personally, I would look at replacing Cahoon (lack of WR results in two different offenses and staffs) and Mahe. Neither appear to be getting it done.

Also, getting Tuiaki to a serious off season clinic related to the DC position and defensive playcalling could be helpful. Does Bronco teach a defense play calling course in the off season? Our D is making too many opponents look like world beaters. Maybe Tuiaki and Lamb need to swap their DC and ST responsibilities.

Detmer needs to learn how to adjust his offense to fit the talent. Not sure what he needs to do to get to that level.

Sitake needs to get into a couple of organizational behavior classes so that he can learn how to make practices into more than a "chill" session.

I'd also get a QB coach so that Ty can move up to the booth which I think would be helpful, or else find someone that he trusts that can be up on the booth.
