I'm just flabbergasted that so many people (like you) seem to really really like championships, but really really NOT like football. You (they) don't want to watch some good football games and cheer for their team to win. They just want to reach the end of the season and get a trophy.

I like football. I like football games. Sure - when you win every game and things build from week to week, I won't deny that it gets even more exiting. I'll admit that I like championships too - but I like championships because it means BYU won a lot of games. I like football season - the entire journey with all of the games - not just when they get a trophy at the end.

Sure - this year has been much less fun. But BYU wasn't going to be winning you any trophies this year regardless of WHICH conference they were in. So you'd still be out of luck and pining for an even weaker conference you can beat.

What you seem to be saying is - BYU can go 10-3 but win the MWC and that would really be better than an independent 12-1 without that much coveted MWC trophy. Really?

If we're talking about BYU maybe needing to cut back on their schedule just a little - we can talk about that. I think if we're being realistic, then maybe we look at scheduling some not as tough teams. But - if we're also being honest - then we recognize that this season was an anomaly and not the norm. And being in the MWC wasn't going to get you a championship trophy.
