A couple years ago, we started out 4-0. Even at 2-0, the national noise started for us. By 4-0, the national media was
kicking the idea of BYU in the playoffs. If we win, there will be plenty of national attention. And it doesn't take being undefeated.

As for attendance, it has dropped off a bit. But it's still so much stronger than any G5 team, and better than most P5 teams. Attendance is weakening all across football. There are various reasons for this. For BYU, we're charging a lot more for tickets these days, and that sometimes leaves a few seats open. Overall, though, we're still putting 60k and more in that stadium for the better opponents, and 55k and more for the lesser opponents. Our student section has been awesome.

This year, of course, things were dead. When we get this program back to competing well, and winning more than we lose, the excitement will return. It's unreasonable to think that attendance would somehow improve if we weaken our schedules and bring in fewer big-name opponents. The times have changed a bit, and that's the real reason the experience at the stadium is different from what it used to be. We still have a great fan base, though, and that stadium will fill up very nicely with more winning. Also, we should keep in mind that Utah County is just going to keep growing. I think our attendance situation is pretty darn strong, actually. It's a program strength, rather than some sort of problem.
