This is a great hire and I suspect that he will attract 2-3 very experienced coaches to join him.

I would really like to see Detmer stay in a QB coach or a non-coaching offensive quality control type of position. Even if he is not calling plays, he has a great eye for the game and ability to break down film and read defenses.
