Right. It was an analogy. There were no conference tournaments in 1951 that I’m
aware of. That’s why I said, “Picture . . .” A team losing an earlier tournament doesn’t mean winning the later one isn’t more prestigious.

Indiana State didn't play in the tournament in 1948. There were several black players in the NIT before the NCAA ever
