The last episode last night really hit me hard. It is a fantastic series. The
scene with Bucky raising the U.S. flag over the POW camp as they were liberated was particularly striking. It reminded me how much the flag was a symbol of freedom and values that sustained the country through that awful conflict. It is in stark contrast to how the flag is treated and viewed by many in our country today. As a country, we have lost a lot as patriotism wanes and is viewed as something to be avoided rather than celebrated.

My dad was born in 1928 and was too young for WWII but he did say if had been in the war, he would have been a fighter or bomber pilot. He ended up in the Navy in the mid 50s flying jets off carriers.

This country owes a lot to your father and the many who did not return from that conflict against evil.
