If a Big 12 team could win the championship it will still continue
the talk of it being the premiere league—at the end of the day it’s all about the number of recent titles. If UConn or another Big East team wins then the commentary will start to shift to that league. If the ACC wins I think the narrative stays relatively similar next year as to what it was this year.

In the last 9 years, the Big East has 4 titles (UConn, Villanova, Villanova, UConn), ACC has 3 titles (Duke, UNC, Virginia) and the Big 12 has 2 (Baylor, Kansas). I think Creighton winning a title this year would be best for the Big East narrative as it would have 50% of them over the last 10 years and it would be 3 separate schools. The Big12 has more recency in its favor if they could get their 3rd in 4 years, but if they don’t get one this year then recency effect will have a shorter shelf life and the narrative of best bball conference shifts in some way heading into next year.
