Me: “Today is our last day at the resort so please make sure to take advantage of the included food and drink because I’m not buying anything at the airport, including bottled water. And keep in mind that there is no ‘free’ water in the airport unless you want to drink out of the bathroom sinks or toilets.”
My kids: “yeah, yeah” (while being totally distracted on their phones).
At the last opportunity to get food and drink at the resort, I repeat the same admonition to which they typically reply, “we’re not hungry or thirsty right now.”
Then, immediately upon arriving in the airport’s post-security food court, “we’re hungry and thirsty. Can we please get something to eat and drink?”
