You forget that Mark Pope will be in charge of UK's recruiting.
UK's recruiting pool is not just guaranteed NBA talent, but 4-star and 5-star recruits and transfers.
Pope will have just about every Latter-day Saint 4 and 5 star recruit on his short list, whether high school or transfer portal. That doesn't mean that UK will land every Latter-day Saint 4 or 5 star recruit, but it does hurt BYU's chances.
