have been better off with Mark Madsen. I'm guessing, but I'm sure that part of his problem of not being interested in BYU is that we passed on him the last time he had thrown his name in the ring. Pope, who had been at BYU for a few years as an assistant, seemed, partly because of that, to be the best option. I did love his passion.
I don't know if we would have achieved what we did without Pope. Madsen has seemed to be equally as successful. We'll never know for sure.
