RalphWiggam Barkeep, another Mekong please
It wasn’t a show. But he isn’t invested the same way that we are as fans. Me personally…I could never imagine
coaching anywhere at BYU. I grew up going to games. I went to school there because of the football team. Literally it was the only thing that interested me about BYU was the football team. And I wasn’t even good enough to be on it.

But what BYU is to me, is what Kentucky is to Mark Pope. But even more as he played in that arena and won a championship there. To him…Kentucky is what BYU is to us.

Now imagine Kentucky has hired you as the head basketball coach. Wouldn’t you embrace everything about Kentucky? You’d wear the clothes, attend the football games, learn the songs and the chants. You’d embrace it 100%.

But if BYU called and said…come home and coach for us…and we will double your salary, oh…and in this hypothetical BYU basketball is a premier basketball program that has won many NCAA titles and fans call years that the team reaches the sweet 16 “rebuilding” years.

Wouldn’t you jump at the opportunity? It doesn’t mean that what you did at Kentucky was fake or for show. It just means you get to be where you’ve always wanted to be.
